FMCG Account Manager


The Account managers (Business advisor) purpose is to develop and maintain strong business relationships with their assigned retailers and explore all opportunities within the boundaries of their assigned territory.  The BA is responsible for delivering all business objectives (Share of Market, Volume & Profit) by implementing agreed cycle objectives, developing quarterly plans with prioritised customers and managing all performance contracts within their assigned territory.

 Business Objectives:

  • Focus on top performing customers to drive overall performance within their territory. Utilise all available analytical tools to identify customers to maximise Share of Market (SOM), Volume and Profit opportunities. Ensure that all company products are distributed as per national KPIs and working closely with trade customers, ensure that they are available to meet the demands of our consumers. Utilise all available tools to promote best practice behaviours (ordering, replenishment, merchandising) with customers and demonstrate the benefits of behavioural change. Achieve all KPIs associated to the Business Objectives.

Territory Management:

  • Develop and implement quarterly plans with targeted customers with defined KPIs, investment requirements and impact analysis. Manage Performance Contracts on the territory and action any issues that may hinder the success of the contracts. Build sustainable business relationships with key customers and be recognised as the Business & Category Advisor for Tobacco and Reduced Risk Products (RRP). Ensure that defined coverage principles are achieved with optimal visit planning and routing.


  • The BA should be able to work autonomously and take ownership of both their Territory and their own development. The BA should be curious about their individual development areas and opportunities within their Territory to maximise performance. They should be open minded, enjoy a challenge and demonstrate an ability to work and collaborate within their assigned team. The sharing of successes and challenges is a core behaviour of Business Advisors.

 Reduced Risk Products (RRP):

  • Ensure the optimum display (in targeted outlets) of the company’s RRP portfolio to agreed standards of execution. Monitor planogram compliance and take action to correct where required. Assess the suitability of targeted outlets for placement of RRP Merchandising Equipment (ME). Liaise with the Regional Logic Specialist to secure agreement to place permanent Logic ME in high potential retail outlets. Meet KPI’s set in this regard.

RRP Promotional Execution:

  • Support the Regional Logic Specialist with the execution of Logic promotions. Identify suitable outlets. for promotional activity and execute the setting up and maintenance of the promotion over the agreed period of time. Manage various tasks and projects as they arise and upon manager’s request.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required

  • University degree, equivalent or relevant work experience
  • Proven and solid experience in Sales / Trade Marketing and Merchandising for a period of no less than two years. Relevant FMCG experience with good overall understanding
  • Siebel sales / MS Excel / MS PowerPoint

 Details of package:

  • Salary 45-50k – very dependent on proven skills, experience and attitude
  • Annual bonus 12% of base salary. Usually paid out at or above target.
  • DC Pension. 5.5% employee contribution, 12.5% employer contribution
