Regional Specification Manager

Our client a leader in the Construction Industry, with operations in over 20 countries is seeking to appoint a regional specification sales manager in the Dublin Region. This role reports to the sales director in the UK.

Overall purpose of the job

  • To identify new build & refurbishment project opportunities and secure firm specifications of the company’s products.
  • To develop an extensive and productive contact base covering architectural practices, surveyors, main contractors, local authorities, housing associations, developers, and other specifiers.
  • To monitor and track the planning and tender stages of each project cycle, ensuring the company specifications are secure.
  • To liaise with stakeholders throughout the supply chain to ensure all parties have confidence in using our company and required account facilities are in place to service each project.
  • To work closely with clients and contractors alike to provide valuable advice and assistance at various specification and build stages.
  • To identify projects at later stages and work to switch competitor specifications to the company via contractor/specifier negotiations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Specification sales activity – securing product specifications to achieve annual invoiced sales budget
  • Managing strong pipeline of projects for up to 6-24 months ahead
  • Developing effective relationships with key specification target organisations
  • Developing an effective contact base within each target organisation
  • Updating a comprehensive spec log to manage activity and report progress
  • Tracking projects and keeping regular contact with key stakeholders in order to retain firm specification
  • Communicating with company Regional Business Managers to price projects at tender stage
  • Communicating with company operational team to ensure sufficient stock to service projects.

 Knowledge / Skills / Experience required

  • Expert knowledge required in natural slate and/or roofing products and marketplace
  • Experience of associated supply chains
  • Specification sales experience, preferably with strong network of architectural & surveying contacts
  • Thorough understanding of applicable British and European standards / legislation
  • Strong knowledge of construction industry / build cycle
  • Exceptional sales skills and professionalism
  • Good leadership skills
  • Excellent problem solving and solution selling skills
