We’re currently recruiting for a Senior Technical  Estimator to join a busy Facades Partitions & Doors

(FPD) team. The position of estimator supports the ongoing company growth plans for the division and is a very important role in achieving the companies long term growth targets.

 

Overview of the position:

The position of estimator supports the ongoing company growth plans for the division and is

a very important role in achieving the companies long term growth targets.

The senior estimator is responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of full

estimates on large and complex projects as required by client’s documents and provides

complete conceptual and total bid price.

The role will involve communicating with and supporting the current sales team and suppliers.

Strong communication skills and an attention to detail are required.

Further essential skills are the ability to review/understand construction drawings and

documentation.

The candidate will have the ability to provide leadership to the existing team,

have work completed in a timely manner whilst working well under pressure. Enjoy

being part of the team and take pride in achieving targets. While also have a strong technical

knowledge with the ability to take on technical information quickly.

Full product training will be provided.

Previous estimating experience within the construction industry is a requirement. Ideally in

Steel and Aluminium Glazing System, door fabrication or other allied areas.

 Responsibilities

  • Lead the estimating team to ensure that the team operates in as efficient manner and delivers estimates and technical supporting documents in a timely and organised manner.
  • Preparation of Estimates/Quotations for all products within the FPD Division
  • Administration of the Tender/Estimating process within the company.
  • Analysis of pre- tender documentation including Specifications, Architectural
  • Drawings, Bill of Quantities and Contract Documents
  • Dealing with the company’s supply chain partners in the course of preparing estimates and tenders
  • Analysis of prices from the company’s suppliers
  • Presentation of entire cost build-up of estimates for margin agreement
  • Submission of estimates and tenders to the company’s customers
  • Compiling and presentation of Technical Submittals for the various projects
  • Attending presentations and meetings as required from time to time

Essential Functions:

  • Reviews and evaluates requests for estimates.
  • Prepares weekly bid calendar and ensures timely completion of estimates.
  • Reviews estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.
  • Creates job folders.
  • Reviews construction documents and understands scope of work to bid.
  • Executes take-offs of construction documents.
  • Inputs take-offs into system.
  • Obtains pricing for materials.
  • Obtains bids from subcontractors.
  • Prepares cost build up analysis for material, labour, equipment, subcontractors and overhead costs.
  • Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.

 Ideal candidate:

  • Proven experience in an estimating position
  • Ability to use own initiative as well as working effectively as part of a team
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to organize, allocate priorities and manage aggregate workload
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent focus on the tender opportunity including attention to detail
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively delegates as appropriate
  • Ability to analysis technical Information
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings

Requirements:

  • Previous estimating experience within the construction industry is a requirement. Ideally in Steel and Aluminium Glazing System, door fabrication or other allied areas.
